Advent and Christmas

Worship and Music

The book of Isaiah reminds us that every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill made low.  Indeed, Advent arrives in anticipation of the arrival of the Prince of Peace.

Our children will welcome in the season with a new Introit, “Rejoice, Rejoice”, on November 27 at 11am worship, and choirs will share music familiar and music new throughout the following weeks leading to Christmas Sunday on December 25.

The Longest Night Service, Wednesday, December 21 at 6:30pm, Chapel
A service intended for those experiencing loss, grief, or for those having difficulty finding joy in the Christmas season for whatever reason. This quiet service includes lighting candles in memory of departed ones dear to us.  Jayne Allison (piano, organ) and Sybil Baker (cello) will provide music.

Christmas Eve Services, Saturday, December 24

Family Service, 5pm: A service especially appropriate for young families, with Youth Instrumentalists, Children’s Choir, and the Contemporary Choir, directed by Lisa Miller.

Candlelight service at 7pm: The Chancel Choir will sing, and flutist Courtney Bertsch will share.

Candlelight service at 10pm: The Youth Choir will sing, with additional music being shared by Melanie Richards (clarinet), Jon Szabo (violin), and Jackson Richards-Jarvis (voice).
Christmas Day Worship
One worship service will take place on Sunday, December 25, at 11am.  Come as you are, ready to sing more carols, and to celebrate the arrival of the Christ Child! We can’t wait to see the kids in their pajamas. Pastor Marcus Atha will give the message.

New Year’s Day Worship
Ring in the New Year with one worship service at 11am on Sunday, January 1.
